And so ended the most frustrating few days yet.
You may have noticed the general tone of these messages deteriorating over the last week. It’s no secret that the weather hasn’t been particularly helpful of late. Well, that has now all changed. Sort of.
Yesterday was not a good day. Little progress was made, and not really in the direction I wanted. However that wasn’t all. Investigating my power situation, I discovered two things: my second battery isn’t properly connected, and one of my solar panels isn’t working as it should. Despite not having the right size hoopy things for the battery, it should be a fairly simple, if a little inelegant, fix. As for the solar panel, we’ll wait and see.
Of course I tried to fix these last night, resulting in a blood bath as a knife fight resulted between my right hand and a thoroughly unenthusiastic left. Needless to say, the unarmed left hand ended up worse off, and a late night dash to the medical kit ensued, upon which I discovered that, in my infinite wisdom, I’d ensured that constipation medicine was more readily accessible than bandages.
The morning came and the weather was, well, gone. Not the north-easterlies promised, but the ocean was so quiet I could happily have made progress in any direction.
So I have.
Well, not any direction. Today, just for the novelty factor, I’ve decided to go in the right direction. And, you know what? It’s better than going in the wrong direction. Maybe we’ll have to do it more often in future.
I’m currently sheltering from the heat, but will be back out rowing soon. It’s about 35 degrees at the moment, so it’s a little warm!
No pictures either, sorry. I’ll try and make sure they return tomorrow.
