Sam called for a weather forecast at 10:30 this morning. He’d been doing well battling with the winds and waves, which had become quite exciting, and reaching speeds of up to 8 knots at times with the help of the elements! Makes the ordinary everyday stuff like making cups of tea and meals, washing, sleeping etc a bit difficult, and rowing is a bit hit and miss. Half the time he only manages to get one oar into the water! Still, he’d rowed 317 miles by then. But he’s now fighting against a south-easterly wind which is pushing him a bit further north than he wants to be, so he was considering putting out the sea anchor and taking a break while the winds sort themselves out to save his energy for when he can make good progress. Watch this space - it depends how strong they are!
At the time I’m writing this, he’s now completed a full week, and as well as the rowing, making calls, sending and receiving messages, he’s done 3 live interviews with BBC Radio Wiltshire. I’ll put links to these up on the website in a bit so you can listen in if you didn’t catch them.
