One year after completing the solo trans-Atlantic row, on 27th March 2009, Sam is setting off again, this time by bike, to cycle over 6,000 miles to Kenya, to visit the project he was raising money for. Click here to follow his new trip.
At 19:58 GMT on 27th March 2008, 24-year old Sam Williams entered the record books by completing his 3,750 mile solo row across the Atlantic Ocean, after 75 days, 4 hours and 43 minutes onboard Pacific Pete. The blogs that he kept during the crossing are available to read here.
"Day 14
... Not receiving any reply to my calls, I rowed to within ten feet of the boat, and slowly drifted past. There was certainly no life on board. I could only see in a small part of the boat, but the stench once downwind was horrendous ..."

"Sam Williams' heroic voyage is one which I can only enviously admire and heartily applaud. He's doing something that demands enormous effort, concentration and courage. The fact that he's doing all this for such a good cause is something of which everyone involved with Farm-Africa can be immensely proud." |
I have now raised over £20,000 for FARM-Africa, but would still like to raise more. If you want to donate, please visit the FARM-Africa website or the new JustGiving page for my cycle to Mwingi. |
